There is something I have been meaning to talk about, this phrase I have heard, ‘vagueblogging’. It is the act of criticizing a member of your community without specifying who you are criticizing precisely. But this, to me, is the very truest nature of criticism. By specifying, by naming a subject, it is protective, it allows others to separate themselves, to feel safe, and so on. It is very reminiscent to me of the last day of Robespierre, that he had been going on ordering the purges of specific members of the Assembly and that everyone was fine with this, but that when he attacked a target which he did not name, that this was the point when people went in a panic. Contrary to the leftist myth about naming names, it is *not* naming names which is the deepest form of criticism, it is a critique of a subjectless subject which anyone can read into, a floating assault on a floating signifier.
