I was helping carry in the groceries and usually my mom would say like “what a good girl” but I had a talk with her about not liking that because I’m nb and tonight she said to my dad “what a great person we have here. Offspring. Fruit of my loins” and she just kept spouting silly gender neutral terms and it made me SO HAPPY.

I posted a picture of me and my best friend on Facebook. My mom told me she wanted to comment “My girls!” but knew that wasn’t right. She actually googled gender neutral terms, but didn’t find any she liked. Eventually what she said was “My fruit salad!” Fruit is now officially my mom’s go-to gender neutral term of affection.
